Mi 550 to 809, 259 mi

St Augustine was super cute, I’d definitely visit it again and spend more time soaking it in. We passed Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, oldest fort in the continental US. Construction started in 1672.

Daytona Beach again. Back to the Land Shark for lunch. Then we got our toes in the sand, Jay swam in the ocean while I chickened out. We laid in the sun and flagged down the ice cream truck. Then we searched unsuccessfully for coffee. Someone suggested Circle K or 7-11. Ewww!

We got off the slow moving A1A to make up some miles. Cruising down I95 is lined with jungle, exotic looking plants, palms and birds. Jay and I both have jungle fever! We both love the heat, humidity and greenery. It felt good to pass Cocoa Beach and the Orlando airport exit and that we aren’t backtracking anymore but moving forward and into unseen territory for us.

Coral sand colored beach along the way.

We made it to West Palm Beach and it felt like a luxury to have a shower before dinner.
