Mi 958 to mi 1067, 109 miles

Now I know why I’ve been getting chills in the evenings. I ran fevers and tossed and turned all night! I broke down and had Jay get me some Tylenol! I can’t do this all natural as planned…and the Tylenol felt magical.

Today was an easy mile day and we weren’t stuck in a city!

We stopped at Robbies and watched kids feed the giant tarpons, recommended by a guy at Cycle Gear in Miami. Totally worth it! Big slow fish. They have to warn people not to pick them up! Apparently they don’t taste very good, no one eats them. The guy called them a catch and release sport fish.Another warning was for the overly aggressive pelicans! They try to steel fish and they bite!!

We ate lunch at a fancy resort along the coast. Ocean breezes blowing through the shaded bar.

Mostly the keys appear sort of low rent. Flat with lots of limestone. It has beach town vibe all the way through. Feels more like the Yuccan than Florida. We both agree it feels comfortable and like a place we would come back to.

Mile zero, the beginning of highway 1!

We almost ran over a rooster crossing the road as we came into town. They are a protected bird, from the original Cuban settlers. Funny! And they are everywhere!

We checked into our hotel fairly early and cooled off in the pool. Since I wasn’t feeling too bad we decided to rent a scooter and scoot around downtown. I drove, Jay drank and we both laughed at my driving. We ate dinner and went and watched the sunset. It’s the thing to do, everyone seams to gather for sunsets. Very cool!
