Back to life, back to reality.

Looking forward to being home with Jay!!! Sleeping in my bed. Being warm. Bubble baths with Epsom salt! Giving Bryce a big hug. Getting mauled by happy dogs! Cooking in my kitchen.

I’ve been thinking about something Jodie said. ‘You won’t go back different, but you’ve had time to think about what you want to change.’

I need to take better care of myself! Go for more walks. Take time to read and be outside. Do projects that make me happy.  Basically stop being so much of a Cinderella always thinking of the long list of chores that I’ll never finish today…let it go.

I always thought it was weird that when people were asked “what’s the best thing about the trail?” they often answer “the relationships!” I totally get it now. Our Tramily (trail family) of four at the end was such powerful little source of support and joy!

Ruthless! I’m so grateful to have hiked with her! So full of energy, confidence, joy and gusto for life! Inspiring everyone she meets. How did we get so lucky?!

Bolt! Returning to conquer the mountain alone in spite her fear of lightning and storms. Her kryptonite was her power. She was fast and so brave and flew over mountains! So inspired!

Inviting everyone to dinner that was finishing was so much fun and most of them would have been celebrating alone. There was so much gratitude in our togetherness that night.

My friend, my hiking partner, my trail warrior Jodie, True Grit, “Grit”! I wouldn’t have wanted to do this without you! You endured so much pain and suffering so quietly. Determined, persist and stubborn we crossed the finish line! We never fought or argued! We communicated, negotiated, planned and compromised. We were generous and kind to each other. I couldn’t have asked for better friend!
