20 years married! I feel that we are closer, kinder and have more love and affection for each other as our marriage continues to grow! We both count ourselves as so lucky! In sickness and health and through highs and lows we’ve been a team. I’ve started calling Jay my keel when we started learning about sailing, because he rights my world! Just returning from 2 full weeks in the Yucatan, some of our favorite places and new ones explored! We are celebrating and living life as youthfully as we can. What a warm and romantic time we had together! We played, we swam, snorkeled and dove. We talked and dreamed about future plans and an endless bucket lists!

Our trip: we landed in Cancun and spent a couple of nights in the noisy hotel zone before we headed south to better beaches. We opted to save money and explore the local bus system. That was quite an adventure! The Cancun bus station is very noisy and there’s a man yelling into a bullhorn in Spanish and you can’t even understand the names of the cities he’s yelling about. I think everyone felt as confused as us and we all gathered right at the lining up area continually asking is this our bus time? We finally made it onto our bus and headed south to Playa Del Carmen. We were actually quite impressed with the bus once we were on, the seats were clean and it’s much nicer than Greyhound and we saved a ton of money! In Playa del Carmen we took the ferry over to Cozumel and then a taxi to our resort. We were right on the beach and we could snorkel for as long as we wanted. The water was perfectly comfortable! The visibility was good and we saw a lot of sea life including yellow rays, spotted moray eels, lobster and of course numerous tropical fish. We spent most of our days swimming and also got quite a few dives in! Cozumel touts some of the best reef in the world! It was amazing! After our time in Cozumel we again took the ferry to Playa del Carmen and took another bus down to Tulum. We’ve been wanting to see the ruins down there for years and I was so amazed by the size of the city that is still left for people to visit. That was such a great day! We had rented bikes and then rode to the ruins. We stopped along the way to cool off and had fresh coconut milk. How cool is that! The day before we left we went to another national Park and did a four cenotes tour. Initially we were led through the park with a guide because you are not supposed to go through any of the tunneled cenotes without a guide and then we were free to explore the open cenotes until it was time to go home. In Tulum we also ventured away from staying at a resort and and decided to try glamping. We stayed in this beautiful funky little place surrounded by greenery and slept in a wall tent with a wooden floor and an air conditioning unit. It was awesome! You could hear the rain at night when storms came through along with the thunder, you could hear it pelting on the roof above you as if you were outside. Yoga on the pool deck every morning was so beautiful and peaceful! Two weeks flew by so fast! It’s hard to want to come home when you’re having so much fun!
